The structural problem

Most planning teams balance service levels against inventory costs without a model that shows the tradeoff at item level.

Demand is planned in spreadsheets. Sales and supply chain argue about whose forecast to use. Supply plans don't reflect the latest demand. Exceptions surface too late. The plan keeps changing after production has started. There's no audit trail for who changed what, and no single view of forecast, supply, and gaps.

ERPs don't fix this, they weren't built for planning. BI tools show what happened, not what to do next. Enterprise IBP suites cost millions and take years to deploy. The result is gut-feel buffers, rigid policy rules, and S&OP cycles that take days because each team is reconciling a different version of the truth.

Workflow examples

Three planning problems GrepEye was built to solve.

Illustrative scenarios for evaluating GrepEye Supply Chain. These examples describe workflows to test, not verified customer results.

Illustrative scenario · manufacturer
The problem

Too much reconciliation before the S&OP review

The workflow to evaluate

A shared demand review with explicit approval gates

Consider a manufacturer whose planners reconcile separate demand exports before each review. A GrepEye Supply Chain evaluation can bring the forecast, planner overrides, and sequential approvals into one workflow. Test whether reviewers can explain a change, identify its owner, and reproduce the approved plan. Measure cycle time against the existing process during the pilot; no time saving is assumed here.

01
  • Compare the baseline and reviewed plan
  • Record overrides and approval responsibility
  • Reconcile the approved output downstream
Illustrative scenario · distributor
The problem

Inventory decisions depend on stale assumptions

The workflow to evaluate

A dated view of demand, usable stock, and incoming supply

Consider a distributor reviewing shortages from disconnected inventory and purchasing files. Supply netting can expose where dated demand exceeds usable stock and expected receipts. Test a delayed receipt, blocked stock, and a changed lead time. Record the policy assumptions behind the recommendation and assign someone to each exception.

02
  • Check usable stock and receipt timing
  • Review shortages at item-location level
  • Agree the action and its owner
Illustrative scenario · planning team
The problem

Forecasts, sign-off, and ERP updates are disconnected

The workflow to evaluate

A traceable path from data to approved operational output

Consider a planning team using separate tools for forecasting, consensus review, and ERP entry. Evaluate a connected workflow by following one item from source data to a proposed plan, a human approval, and an acknowledged handoff. Test a rejection and retry so the team can see how failures are resolved. Consolidation and deployment scope depend on the systems involved.

03
  • Define ownership across each handoff
  • Verify approvals and change history
  • Test destination acknowledgement and recovery
How implementation runs

From first data upload to live plan in eight weeks.

Most planning software takes months to deploy. GrepEye is structured for an 8-week pilot that ends with a real, exported inventory policy, not a demo.

W1–2

Data onboarding

Connect ERP/SFTP sources via connectors or import CSVs through Import Studio. GrepEye validates, deduplicates, and builds the operational data model.

Deliverable

Validated dataset + working connectors

W3–4

Forecast baseline

Run ML ensemble (multiple model families) per SKU. Review MAPE/WMAPE on the leaderboard. Configure exception thresholds and alert rules.

Deliverable

First ensemble run + accuracy diagnostics

W5–6

First S&OP cycle

Run the full S&OP console: Demand Review → Supply Review → Exec S&OP. Try scenario planning. Lock the cycle. AI agents handle routine triage in chat.

Deliverable

First locked cycle + audit trail

W7–8

Automation + integration

Activate rules engine, configure webhooks to ERP, generate first board pack. Train broader team on chat-based orchestration. Full pipeline tested end-to-end.

Deliverable

Live automation + ERP write-back
